ESTABLISHED IN 1936
The Sarnia Professional Fire Fighters Association (SPFFA) is an affiliate of the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association (OPFFA) and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). The SPFFA Local 492 was formed on October 6, 1936 and joined the OPFFA in 1984. We consist of 125 members involved in all aspects of firefighting. Our members provide Fire Suppression, Training, Public Education, Fire Prevention and Fire Determination on a strictly full-time basis.
Sarnia Firefighters have a proud history of serving our 73,000 citizens of Sarnia on the job, and off the job through our Community Benefit Fund.
Sarnia Firefighters take pride in preserving Life, Property and the Environment. We protect the citizens of Sarnia in all unique high-risk situations that Sarnia has to offer. This includes but is not limited to fire, medical emergencies, car accidents including Highway 402, Chemical Valley emergencies, Hazardous Materials Incidents, water rescues on Lake Huron and the St. Clair River, and CN Rail emergencies. Sarnia Firefighters are committed to continuous levels of learning and training to provide the highest of professional service.
